To Create an Intelligent Centerline from a smartline or line segment.

  1. Select an existing line segment from the drawing, or use the line or smartline tools to draw a line.
  2. Click the Intelligent Line Manage icon from the Piping ribbon. The Intelligent Line Manager dialog displays.
Note: The Intelligent Line Manager does not display unless a line segment is selected.
  3. Select one of the following Corner Options from the list.
    • Standard Elbow
    • Pipe Bend
    • Ask for Corner Type

This determines what kind of bend component will be automatically placed when populating the centerline.

  4. Define the placement options for the selected corner type. A different set of options display depending on the corner option chosen.
Note: If the Ask for Corner Type is selected, the area will be disabled. You will be prompted to select a bend from the Spec Record Selection dialog when a bend is encountered in the centerline.
  5. Select one of the following Justification settings from the list:
    • Top
    • Center
    • Bottom

These options determine the placement point used when routing the piping components on the centerline.

  6. Use the Design Values section to edit the Nominal Size, Specification and Insulation fields as necessary.
Note: If the Nominal Size and Specification values are modified, the Name field will update with the new values.
  7. Define the remaining property fields as necessary.
  8. Click Generate to create the intelligent centerline.
Note: You have the option to immediately populate the centerline by click the Populate button. If you decide to populate the centerline at a later time, then click the link below for the procedure for that.
